  1. Raisins, chopped dates,shortening,hot water,nutmeg,cinnamon and salt. Mix together the ingredients and boil 5 minutes cool.
  2. Then add: Flour,baking soda,baking powder,and vanilla. Bake 3 minutes at 350 F, reduce heat to 325 F, and continue baking around 40 to 50 minutes. Makes 2 small loaves.
